Hunt swap

Trade a Hunt: Swap Your Hunt for South Dakota Pheasant, Deer, or Waterfowl

You host us on your hunt, and we host you on ours. No money changes hands.

How it works

A hunt trade is simple

You host us on your hunt, and we host you on ours. No money changes hands. We trade South Dakota pheasant, whitetail deer, and waterfowl hunts on private land near Bath, SD, for hunts and fishing trips in other states and countries.

What we offer

  • Pheasant: wild birds on private CRP, shelterbelts, and food plots. October 17 to January 31.
  • Whitetail deer: archery and rifle seasons on private ground with custom-built stands.
  • High fence deer: trophy deer raised on the farm.
  • Waterfowl: ducks, Canada geese, and snow geese in the Central Flyway, near Sand Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
  • Guided or on your own: your choice.
  • A place to park: RV and tent sites at our Sand Lake Campground, when open.

Questions

Common questions

Is trading hunts legal?

Trading access between hunters is common. Rules on guiding and payment differ by state, so we check the rules for both hunts before we agree to a trade.

Who pays for licenses?

Each hunter buys their own licenses and tags for the state where they hunt.

What if our hunts are not the same value?

We talk it through. A trade can include more days, more hunters, or a second season to even it out.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Bird dogs are welcome on pheasant and waterfowl hunts.

Do you trade for fishing trips?

Yes. Walleye, salmon, halibut, and saltwater trips all work.

Where do I stay?

Our Sand Lake Campground when a site is open. Otherwise a hotel in Aberdeen, about 10 miles from the farm.
